Pedestrian & Wheel Sports Safety

Each year approximately 626 child pedestrian fatalities occur. Developmentally children under 10 are unable to correctly gauge the speed of vehicles putting them at greater risk for injury and death.

Another 135 children are killed each year as bicyclists. Helmet use can reduce the

risk of head injury by 85 percent and severe brain injury by 88 percent.
