Welcome to Safe Kids Wisconsin
The problem: unintentional childhood injury
Unintentional childhood injury is the No. 1 case of dead in children age 19 and younger in the United States. Each year, one in four children need medical attention for these injuries. However, we know that through education and awareness, as many as 90 percent of these injuries can be prevented.
The solution: Safe Kids Wisconsin
Safe Kids Wisconsin is one of more than 400 grassroots coalitions in the United States, as part of Safe Kids Worldwide, that brings together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families on issues surrounding child safety.
Safe Kids Wisconsin is led by Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, one of the leading independent pediatric medical centers in the United States. Safe Kids Wisconsin supports twelve coalitions that provide safety education, support and programming throughout the state.
In 2018, Safe Kids Wisconsin and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin were contracted by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to become the administrator of the Wisconsin Child Passenger Safety Program. This program provides child passenger safety technician training and resources on child passenger safety for parents and caregivers.
