Safe Kids Sauk County

The Safe Kids Sauk County coalition formed in 2019.  The coalition is lead by the Sauk County Health Department.

The coalition focuses on:

  • Child passenger safety
    • Car seat checks by appointment at locations throughout Sauk County
    • Baraboo Children's Museum: Car seat checks every 3rd Friday from 9:30am-11:30am; no appointment needed.  Receive 50% off admission that day for getting car seat checked
    • Car seats and booster seats are available for eligible families; call the health department for more information
  • Home Safety
    • Distribution of gun locks, carbon monoxide/smoke alarms, medication lock boxes, and other safety items as available; call the health department for more information
    • Cribs for Kids program (provides pack and plays and education on safe sleep)
  • Water Safety
    • Life jacket loaner boards at Whitemound County Park
  • Other Safety efforts
    • Rural Safety Days in May for 3rd grade students
    • Child safety education/booth at community fairs
    • "Caught Being Safe" program; rewards available for kids practicing safe behaviors such as wearing a helmet when riding a bike
